Environmental declaration

The executive board is responsible for the development of the environmental policies of the company and the formulation of the related policies.

Van Raak has a duty of care for the environment and seeks to prevent negative environmental aspects, which may arise during the implementation of the operational processes, to manage and where possible to minimise those aspects. The key requirements, as laid down in the WM-licence and other laws and regulations, play a central part.

This is achieved by the following:

• The reduction of emissions and waste
• Reducing energy consumption
• Closing of cycles
• The continuous improvement of the degree of control
• The use of environmentally friendly products and equipment

 

Apart from that Van Raak has the duty to take care of good working conditions for its permanent and temporary workers and suppliers. The aim is to provide

- the greatest possible safety;

- maximum protection of health;

- promoting the well-being of employees and an effective health-related absenteeism

policy.

 

The environmental policy objectives

In order to attain the environmental policy of the organisation practicable and measurable objectives must be formulated, so that the company keeps such course, that the desired goal will be achieved by continuous improvement of the business processes and control of the environmental risks.

 

Some policy directives regarding the continuity of the environmental policy:

• Continuity is guaranteed by remaining alert to changes in the laws and regulations, so that the environmental system can be adapted to those changes;
• To make use of technological developments in the application of methodologies and deployment of devices and equipment as far as possible;
• Planning of the realisation: objectives have to be developed with a phased plan, so that it is clear who should do what and within which time-frame. Their progress is monitored during the regular management meeting.
